Clear lacquer for oak doors

I have had some oak doors fitted in my house extension. What would provide the best finish? I saw some doors in a showroom that had been treated with some type of oil.

This seems to provide a richer finish that standard clear varnish. Anybody got experince and could give me some advice. I also have skirtings to treat.
